Moving and Storage Supplies

Pack, protect, and move with confidence
Organizing for a move can be challenging. Whether placing items in storage or relocating to a new home, protecting and organizing your belongings is key to a smooth transition. To simplify the packing and moving process, Premium Spaces has compiled expert tips to help you manage your things with confidence and ease.
Packing Preparations
- Allocate packing time. Begin packing well in advance to maintain organization and efficiency. Allocate sufficient time to avoid feeling hurried, recognizing that the process typically takes longer than expected.
- Gather packing materials. Have all necessary supplies on hand before starting. This includes visiting one of our local facilities to secure boxes, packing paper, Bubble Wrap, packing tape, furniture covers, and marker pens.
- Reserve a moving truck. Book a moving truck ahead of time to avoid last-minute hassles rather than assuming one will be available when needed. In addition to U-Haul rentals, some Premium Spaces facilities offer free moving trucks to new renters moving in.
Staying Organized
- Label everything. Be sure to label every box, marking each side to indicate the contents inside and whether they contain delicate items. Keep an inventory of what has been packed and what still needs attention.
- Opt for smaller boxes. Keep boxes manageable in size for easy lifting, particularly for those containing heavy items. Each box should weigh no more than 30 pounds. Use packing materials to fill any empty spaces inside the boxes.
- Utilize drawer space. Maximize storage space by placing smaller objects in drawers, refrigerators, and other furniture with interior space. Protect fragile items by cushioning them with Bubble Wrap or towels.
Protection of Your Belongings
- Protect furniture legs. Wrap the legs of furniture with Bubble Wrap or protective pads to prevent scratches during transport.
- Wrap fragile items. Individually wrap delicate items like plates and glassware in packing paper and stack plates on their sides.
- Pad wall décor. Cushion and store mirrors, artwork, and picture frames in large boxes to help safeguard them.
- Cover up furniture. Shield wooden furniture, upholstery, and mattresses with protective covers or plastic bags.
- Seal boxes. Securely seal all box flaps with packing tape to prevent dust from entering during moving and storage.
- Care for your clothing. Use wardrobe boxes to hang clothes and draperies, helping them remain in good condition.
- Appliance preparation. Clean and dry all appliances, secure doors shut with tape for transport, and pad any movable parts with packing paper.
